Paguma larvata

This monkey is found in Southern India. It is the common species in village and jungle, both in foot hill and in the plains.

Bonnet macaque eat anything eatable, fruits, berries, leaves and shoots, also insects and spiders.

A bonnet of long dark hairs radiates in all directions from a whorl on its crown. The bonnet does not quite cover the forehead, where the hairs are short and neatly parted in the centre.

The coat of Bonnet is variable both among individuals and with the season.

Female gives birth mainly from late January to late April.

The average span of life in captivity is 12- 15 years.
