Pheasants

<< Brown Eared Pheasant

Crossoptilon mantchuricum

Brown Eared Pheasant is a extremely hardy bird. They love snow and inclement weather.

Male and female are very similar in appearance but males are usually larger then females.

This Pheasant has black crown reddish legs, white ear tufts that continue under the chin, Brown black neck blending in to a dark chocolate colour on the body. Tail is white and brown ends on some of the feathers. Male becomes very aggressive during breeding season.

They feed on grass, grains, plant, buds and insects etc.

Female lays 10-20 eggs. Incubation period is 27-28 days.

These Pheasant are found in hilly areas of Northern China.
