<< Bornean Fire Back Pheasant

Lophura ignita

Bornean Fire back Pheasant are found in Thailand, Malaya, Sumatra and Borneo.

There are four sub species of the Fire back Pheasant. Face wattles cobalt blue head, Crest, Neck, Breast, Mantle, Rump, Tail coverts and thighs dark purplish blue, Wing – coverts dark blue with iridescent ultramarine fringes. Feathers of lower back with a blue – black base hidden by broad fringes of shining coppery maroon.

During breeding season males can be aggressive towards their mates, Female lay 5-8 eggs and incubation period lasts 28 days.
