Panthera pardus

Leopards thrive in every type of forests and are found all over India except in higher Himalayas.

In the higher reaches Snow Leopard (panthera unica) is found.

Leopard are basically nocturnal in nature, but they also hunt during the day if need arises.

They prey upon cattle, dogs, deer, monkeys, small beasts of prey and rodents.

Leopard should not be confused with cheetah which is now found only in Africa.
