 Padma Serow

One new born female Serow fawn was found orphaned near Ranibagh on 20-12-2000. It was brought to Nainital zoo. During observation it was found that the naval cord of the Serow was with it and it was not fully dried.

The weight of fawn was 7.5 Kg. and height was 46cm. It seemed to be very weak. Water and buffalo milk in the ratio of 50:50 was provided.

After two three days, the fawn started loose motions. One goat was arranged to act as step mother for providing milk to the Serow. After fifteen days, the weight of the Serow reached to 8.5Kg. and it started taking green leaves of Strobilanthus and green grasses.

After two months, the weight of Serow increased up to 11.80 kg. and height 56 cm. The fawn was released to its enclosure on 03-03-2001. Now the rescued fawn is a fully grown female.
